New Holland Super 77 Hay Baler Manual
I have a working NH 80, it was the first automatic wire tie sold in Boulder County, Colorado. I was able to get this baler from my uncle 5 years ago. I used it in the field for all of our baling for 2 years, put out great 80lb + bales. It took a little tinkering to keep it going so we opted for a more dependable NH 276 PTO drive. I'm probably going to put the NH 80 baler in the clasifieds this winter.

- Re: NEW HOLLAND 77 BALER in reply to MARK SWENSON, 15:49:37 I have a friend that had a 77 and then a super 77 with PTO. I have the flywheel from the 77, 375 pounds.
I'll never forget the sound of the Wisconsin engine reving with each stroke of the plunger and the feeder mechanism twitching when the plunger locked to tie a bale. I might just have to get it out and do a few more bales through it before I sell it. Mark if you would like a digital picture of my NH 80 & a NH 77 give me an e-mail and I'll get some for you after I get back from a tractor run to Minnesota. Happy Hunting! I have a picture of my landlord's old Wisconsin equiped 77 before it was sold.I used this baler on about 20 acres a year and it worked great! I loved the old thing and new everything about it. We needed more capacity since time is at a premimum when cows are running around, so we bought a NH Super 269.I like that alot to but that 77 was amazing in the field. It was sold at the farm sale my landlord had to get rid of all the old machinery that we didn't use anymore.the 77's engine sold to the Amish for $200 and the baler sold for $65. It is sitting out in a field about 20 miles from me, and I had it washed and oiled everytime I used it. It looked like new when it sold! As my neighbors say about the old 77's(they couldn't afford one when NH brought them out).'
They were a Hellen-a-hay baler in their day'! Oh, and I can't get my scanner working to post the pic.I will keep trying tho. I have a Super 77 Twine-tie baler, PTO model that we bought with the farm in 1972 along with a cockshutt 1255 tractor. The pair are well matched and except when I was abroad for a stint (eg Cleveland) they have been used to do about 2,000 bales a year. And a great job too, and for some it may be exciting to watch - cars slow to watch the plunger in action! It has a bale chute which carries the bales right up onto the waagon (this baler has a wagon hitch) and the kids load the bales as they come up = 178 bales on a wagon I think is the record.
If it weren't for the choppy fields and bales bouncing off the wagon the 77 can keep up with a Gehl round baler. I have the manual, no date, believe it was produced about 1948. The manual lauds its safety features = but these features refer to shear bolts, not safey devices for the operator!
There are 60 grease nipples, and even going lickity split, it takes about 45 minutes to grease the machine. I picked up another 77 some years ago for parts and yesterday was removing some extra pickup fingers and a couple of pickup slats to replace some damaged ones on the working model. The 77 weights 4400 lbs - last year I finally had to replace the left 7.50 x 24' tire.
The gearbox uses 2 1/2 quarts of Type A transmission oil and is supposed to be replaced each season but have only replace it once. The four drive belts are original too.
Have quite a few photos. It is indeed an incredible machine! Augusta ontario.
